Welcome to Unity of Independence!
Please plan to be part of our services—either online or from any telephone!
You can be part of Unity of Independence's events without leaving your home. Even if you don't have a computer, you can hear the events by telephone.
Below, you'll find instructions for joining our events by telephone (recommended if you aren't comfortable working with a computer), and through Zoom, the online conferencing service we're using.
Please remember, also, that our operating expenses continue even while we are unable to hold services in our church building. Your tithes and offerings, by mail (Unity of Independence, 14304 E 39th St, Independence MO 64055) or PayPal, are very much appreciated.
We pray affirming inspiring worship experiences, meaningful prayer services, and supportive groups, and we pray affirming you'll be part of it.

We are a thriving community of people who are “spiritual, but not religious." We are a welcoming community, and we honor all of the many paths to God. We honor the divine in ALL people, of all different beliefs and lifestyles. Our sanctuary is wheelchair accessible, and we do everything possible to accommodate those with disabilities. No matter who you are, or where you are on your spiritual journey – you are welcome in our community!
Thank you, Rev. Tom Thorpe, for your inspiring, supportive leadership for these past 8 years! We love you, we bless you, we appreciate you, and we behold the Christ as you.
Enjoy your retirement!
Welcome, Revs. Warren Teachout and David Adams!
We are thrilled to begin our spiritual journey with you. We look forward to learning, growing, discovering, reaching out, and being blessed together.

"The End Of The Beginning" with Revs. Warren Teachout and David Adams
Some have called 2020—this time of COVID-19, rising cultural and ethnic division, war, violence and poverty, and the list goes on—as a precursor to the end of the world.
What if, rather than seeing this time as “the beginning of the end,” we viewed it as “the end of the beginning”?
We have been given an opportunity to reinvent the way we experience ourselves and interact with those we meet on a daily basis. In this novel time we are being called to transform the way we relate to others in larger community, to embrace and establish harmony in our nation and our world.
Imagine if we were able to recognize that nothing is being taken away from us. We might choose to set aside old ways of thinking and being, both individually and as a society. We might realize that, in this moment, everything and more is being offered to all of humanity. Are we willing to put on a new self—are we willing to perceive life differently?
