About The Event
The great prophet Elijah appears abruptly without any previous introduction in I Kings 17 and ascends in a whirlwind in II Kings 2:11. His mission is in his name which means Jehovah is God (God is God). In between his mysterious appearance and disappearance is a dramatic ministry devoted to bringing the people of Israel back to the true concept of God as the one and only power and presence directing life. The story plays out in the reign of King Ahab who, by the time of Elijah's appearance, had converted half of Israel to Baal worship.
